From breezes to the 80s

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Gusty east winds headline today's forecast.

Metro Tucson can expect breezes in the 15-25 MPH range this afternoon, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Winds crank up courtesy of a weak storm system over Sonora. After highs peak in the low 70s, breezes dial down during the evening hours.

Daytime highs to wrap the week reach the low to mid 70s, running 4-9° above average for late January standards.

High pressure builds off the Baja California coast early next week, driving a strong warming trend. Sunday and Monday features daytime highs in the low 80s, coming close to record territory. Ample sunshine prevails over the next 7 days.

Lows the next several nights bottom out in the 40s for Metro Tucson.
