Chilling to start the week

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Cool vibes to begin a new work week.

Highs this afternoon peak in the upper 50s to low 60s across Metro Tucson, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Today's forecast temperatures run 5-7° below average under partly cloudy skies. Lows overnight won't be as cold as last night, bottoming out in the low to mid 30s.

Areas south and east of Tucson likely wake up to temperatures at or below the freezing mark Tuesday.

Easterly breezes up to 15 MPH are expected through Wednesday, courtesy of a weak storm system south of the state. Winds relax by Thursday as highs return to the mid 70s in the Old Pueblo.

High pressure near Baja California should keep temperatures above seasonal normals for the final weekend of January.
