Winter warmth...for now

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - 48 hours away from a significant temperature drop.

Highs reach the mid to upper 70s to wrap the work week, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Cloud cover begins to increase Friday night, ahead of a strong cold front forming off the Pacific coast.

The cold front sweeps across Arizona on Saturday, as high struggles to reach the mid 50s. There is a 40% chance of valley rain and mountain snow Saturday afternoon and evening. Up to 0.10" rain is possible, while Mount Lemmon may pick up an inch of new snow.

Behind the front, a frigid air mass moves in. Widespread freezing temperatures are expected by Sunday morning, followed by afternoon highs in the mid 50s. Another widespread metro freeze can't be ruled out Monday morning as well.
