Tucson temps trending down

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Warm to start the week, but feeling like Winter to end it.

High pressure over the Colorado River Valley spikes temperatures 11-13° above average today. According to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish, Metro Tucson peaks in the upper 70s this afternoon. Mostly sunny skies today gives way to partly cloudy skies overnight.

The first of two cold fronts enters the state tomorrow. Gusty east winds up to 20 MPH are possible as highs reach the upper 60s. Breezes relax the remainder of the work week as highs return to the 70s.

Perhaps the coldest storm system of this Winter arrives Saturday. Gusty winds and a stray shower may develop ahead of this cold front. Afternoon highs to start the weekend only top out in the upper 50s, followed by overnight lows in the upper 20s to low 30s.

If Tucson hits the freezing mark overnight Saturday, it would only mark the third freeze of the season.
