Yavapai County -

A convicted sex offender has notified the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office that he will be living in the county.

55-year-old Roland Gonzales Cruz has been convicted of a sex offense which allows for community notification. He will be living at 12781 E Central Avenue, Apt. 3, in Mayer. This individual is not wanted by the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office at this time.

Cruz was convicted of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child in Houston, Texas, in 1997. The victim was a 13-year old girl known to him. Cruz was sentenced to 11 years in the Texas Department of Corrections and is not on parole or probation in Yavapai County. Cruz is considered a Level 2 (intermediate) risk.
This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is the Sheriff's Office belief that an informed community is a safer community. CITIZEN ABUSES OF THIS INFORMATION TO THREATEN, INTIMIDATE OR HARASS SEX OFFENDERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
