A University of Arizona student is in critical condition after being struck by a suspected drunk driver.

Ashley Murray, 21, was reportedly riding in an Uber in California on Dec. 22 when another car ran a red light crashed into them.

According to a Go Fund Me page set up to help cover medical expenses, “Ashley has sustained substantial brain injuries and has had multiple surgeries in hopes to minimize lasting brain damage.”

Another passenger in the Uber was also injured, but it expected to be discharged soon from the hospital.

The suspected DUI driver is being held by the Redondo Beach Police Department.
