Christmas tree catches fire inside south side home

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Tucson Fire crews are responding to a call of a Christmas tree fire inside a home on the south side, according to Tucson Fire Dept. spokesperson Capt. Andy Skaggs.

Multiple 911 calls were made reporting the fire around 8 p.m. on Dec. 27 in the 300 block of W. Pennsylvania Dr.

Firefighters forced their way into the home and found a Christmas tree on fire in the front room.

Investigators said all the doors and windows in the home were shut, which helped the fire start to put itself out once crews arrived.

The residents were not home at the time. Tucson Fire crews said the damage was contained to the front room, however there was extensive fire damage throughout the house.

Tucson Fire crews are still investigating the cause of the fire.
