Season's Freezings: Cold mornings coming to Tucson

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - The season's first freeze is coming to Metro Tucson soon.

Before Old Man Winter settles in, expect highs this afternoon in the mid 60s. High pressure crossing the state boosts temps into the low 70s tomorrow, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Plenty of sunshine prevails over the next few days.

A cold front developing off the Pacific Northwest coast crashes the Winter warmth late in the week.

Gusty winds develop Thursday afternoon as highs only reach the mid to upper 50s. Lows Thursday night into Friday morning bottom out in the upper 20s to low 30s, marking the first freeze in Tucson this season.

The average date for Tucson's first freeze is November 24th. If Tucson sees its first freeze on Friday morning, it would mark the 7th latest first freeze on record.

Temperatures remain in the 50s on Friday, running nearly 10° below average for this time of year. Another freeze is possible by daybreak Saturday in Metro Tucson.

High pressure building over the Pacific coast moderates temps in time for Christmas. Expect mid 60s and mostly sunny skies Sunday and Christmas Day.
