TUCSON, Ariz. – The Hawaii Rainbow Wahine (6-4) finished the game on a 19-2 run as they defeated Arizona (3-7) by a score of 65-60 in McKale Center on Sunday afternoon.
Lucia Alonso was on fire today as she poured in a career-high 21 points with three made three-pointers. The sophomore had never scored more than 15 points coming into today's game.
JaLea Bennett scored 12 points but really made her mark on the defensive end as she swiped a career-high four steals.  Sam Thomas had another typical game as she was one rebound short of a double-double. The freshman finished with 13 points and nine rebounds.
For the first three quarters, Arizona's defense was impenetrable as they forced 19 turnovers. Hawaii finished the game with 21 total turnovers, which is the most Arizona has forced all season.
Alonso and Bennett carried the Wildcats for the most part in the first half as they scored 18 of Arizona's 30 first-half points. Thomas joined in on the scoring as well with seven points in the second quarter, capped off with a half-court buzzer beater to give Arizona a 30-28 lead heading into the locker room.
The Wildcats extended their lead in the third quarter to 47-40 while forcing nine turnovers in the period, but Hawaii dominated the fourth quarter as they outscored Arizona 25-13 and allowed just two Wildcat points in the final six minutes of the game, giving the Rainbow Wahine the 65-60 victory.

Arizona will wrap up the non-conference season and their three-game home stand on Wednesday, Dec. 20 with Southern Utah. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. MST.
