Mt. Lemmon road reopens

UPDATE: As of 7:33 a.m this morning, the road to Mount Lemmon has been reopened, the Department of Sheriff's say. Those who want to use side roads have to have chains and four-wheel drive vehicles. The conditions of the roads may change. Stay with News 4 Tucson for updates.


UPDATE: As of 7 p.m. Sunday night, the Catalina Highway to Mount Lemmon is closed at the base to the public except for residents with chains and four-wheel drive vehicles.

Mount Lemmon received between 5-6 inches of snow over the weekend causing icy conditions on the road.

According to the Pima County Department of Transportation, there's no word yet on when Catalina Highway will reopen.


PIMA COUNTY- The road to Mount Lemmon has reopened.

Around 3 p.m., Catalina Highway reopened for traffic.

Five inches of snow fell on Mount Lemmon, according to the National Weather Service Tucson. 

Catalina Highway closed Sunday morning due to weather conditions.
