Ushering in a December feel

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - At long last, temperatures suited for early December arrive.

Mostly cloudy skies keep temps in the upper 60s for much of Metro Tucson today, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. A weak storm system may touch off isolated rain/mountain snow showers mainly tonight.

While a stray shower can't be ruled out for Tucson, favored areas should be along the Arizona/New Mexico state line. The White Mountains of Graham & Greenlee Counties may pick up a dusting to 1" of new snow overnight.

Highs Wednesday pop back up to the low 70s, but drop 5-10° by Thursday. Mid to upper 60s are on tap for Thursday and Friday afternoon, while overnight lows bottom out in the upper 30s to low 40s in the Old Pueblo.

Freezing temps are possible Thursday night and Friday night east of Tucson.

Warmer weather returns by the weekend, courtesy of high pressure parked over the west. Saturday and Sunday feature daytime temps in the mid 70s.
