Hundreds of bowl game tickets are now up for grabs. Many wildcat fans hope to cheer on the team in person but others will be yelling “Bear Down!” at their TV’s.
The Foster Farms Bowl in Santa Clara, California, features a matchup between the University of Arizona (7-5) and Purdue University (6-6) set for 6:30 p.m. (MT) at Levi’s Stadium on December 27th.
"It's nice that the tickets are only $25 because I am a broke college student,” said UA freshman Donya Airola.
"Hotel rates should be lower, except maybe for the bowl game. It's a great time to be in the Bay area,” said UA professor Anthony Martinez.
The UA has partnered with Bon Voyage Travel to offer packages that include transportation and lodging.
For Airola, finding a place to stay isn’t going to be an issue since she’s from the Sacramento area.
"I'm excited to go with my dad. I think it's going to be a perfect Christmas present. We're just going to drive and the game's at 5:30. We can drive back that same night, no hotel or anything,” Airola said.
However, UA junior Logan Cleverly and his friends won’t be going; in part because of the long drive.
"I want to go to the game but its December 27th; it's kind of close to Christmas,” Cleverly said.
The bowl game is expected to bring in a strong showing of alumni with thousands of Wildcat graduates living in northern California.
"I'm just so proud and excited to see our men on the field one more time and see those players close out this football season with a big win,” said Melinda Burke, president of the UA Alumni Association.
