State to auction unclaimed property this week

Posted: Updated:

The State of Arizona is set to auction items that have remained unclaimed from safe-deposit boxes for as many as five years. Items range from precious metals, to jewelry and more.

Money raised from the auction will be placed into a custodial account. The funds will then remain available to their rightful owners for claiming. According to the department, there is no deadline to file a claim.

Buyers can attend the sale at Noon on Friday, December 8 at Sierra Auction located at 3570 Grand Avenue in Phoenix.  In-person bids will be accepted, and bids can also be placed online at this link prior to the auction as well as during a live, online simulcast of the auction. An online auction is being held from December 6 to December 10 until 5:00 p.m.

ADOR officials say fiscal year 2017 was a record, with more than $57 million was paid out to claimants.
