Apartment Fire displaces residents

Tucson Fire Dept. fought an apartment fire while responding to a call about a nearby mesquite tree on fire.

TFD says 911 received multiple calls early Saturday morning regarding a tree on fire and a nearby apartment on fire near the 5800 block of East 23rd Street.

The first units on scene fought the tree fire while a separate unit checked on the apartment.

The second unit found a fire in the apartment and proceeded to evacuate the residents of the apartment.

After 30 minutes, 13 units, and 29 firefighters Tucson fire had the fire under control.

Four apartments were affected by the fire but only two were occupied.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
