Group gathers in Tucson in support of the Dream Act

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON – Tucson was one of 35 cities nationwide that was visited by a pop-up photo project advocating for Congress to pass the Dream Act.

The Inside Out ‘Dreamers’ project was created by French artist, JR. The project takes a mobile photo booth nationwide to showcase portraits of Dreamers and supporters of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

DACA is an Obama-era program that protected hundreds of thousands of people who were children when they arrived to the U.S. illegally. President Donald Trump announced he would end the program in September.

The Inside Out project’s mobile photo booth was parked downtown Tucson. After a photo was taken, a black and white poster was printed and displayed.

Senator Jeff Flake announced Friday he will support tax cuts favored by President Donald Trump and business interests in exchange for work on a solution for protection for DACA recipients.

There are about 28,000 DACA recipients in Arizona.
