Survivors of childhood cancer may face an increased risk of high blood pressure when they become adults. That's according to a study from St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Data showed childhood cancer survivors were two and a half times more likely to develop hypertension than the general population and that risk increased over time.

Experts said doctors should closely monitor blood pressure in cancer survivors to reduce their risk of heart disease.

A link between the timing of pregnancies and autism

The government study found children conceived less than 18 months or more than five years after a sibling had a higher risk of autism. No other developmental disabilities were associated with birth spacing.

Getting out of the house may help older adults live longer

A new study found senior citizens who went on regular outings had a lower risk of early death than those who stayed home. Even sedentary people and seniors with limited mobility benefited from changing their surroundings.

Experts said getting out of the house allows elderly adults to be more social and active.
