4 Your Health: prescription drugs effect on dating violence; trauma related to cancer

Posted: Updated:

Many cancer survivors suffer from post traumatic stress disorder.

Scientists from National University Of Malaysia, studied nearly 500 adults with some form of cancer. About one in five had PTSD six months after their diagnosis. And roughly one-third of those patients *still* had symptoms four years later.

Experts say mental health evaluations should be a part of follow up care for cancer survivors.

Prescription drugs tie to dating violence

A new study reveals a link between prescription drug abuse and dating violence among teens.

About 10 percent of surveyed high school students said they had committed, or been a victim of, dating violence. Researchers found the mis-use of prescription drugs was more often associated with sexual abuse among males and physical violence among females.
