A teenager convicted of killing his girlfriend’s father was sentenced to 12.5 years Monday.

Andres Jesus Moreno was 16 in 2015 when he killed Ricardo Figueroa.

Figueroa, 47, was found collapsed and bleeding near Milton and Country Club in June of 2015. He died at the scene.

According to investigators, Moreno allegedly went to the victim's home and confronted his daughter.

At some point, Moreno headed to the front of the home to slash a car's tires. That is when Figueroa's daughter said she heard her father being attacked and then found him lying on the ground. She said she also saw Moreno running away down an alley.

Detectives reported finding an ax near the victim and a blood trail leading back to Figueroa's house.
