Four Southern Arizona teams make football state quarterfinals

Four Southern Arizona schools will represent the area after winning the Arizona state football quarterfinals.

In 5A #1 seed Cienega High will face Notre Dame Prep in the State semifinals.

In 4A, #4 seed Salpointe Catholic will face Sunrise Mountain in the State semifinals.

In 3A, #1 seed Pusch Ridge Christian will face Benjamin Franklin in the State semifinals.

In 2A, #4 seed Santa Cruz Valley will face Round Valley in the State Semifinals.

In class 5A, Cienega beat Marana 38-35 in an exciting game in Vail. Marana took an early lead, but Arizona commit Jamarye Joiner led his team back to give Cienega an opportunity for a state championship. This is Cienega's second consecutive trip to the 5A final four.

In class 4A, Bijan Robinson and the Salpointe Catholic Lancers whipped up on Cactus 49-14. Salpointe is back in the state semifinals, also.

In class 3A, #1 seed Pusch Ridge continues its march to the state finals with an easy 42-6 win over Northwest Christian. They will face Benjamin Franklin, who beat Sabino 35-31.

In class 2A, Santa Cruz Valley beat up on Scottsdale Christian 47-12 to make the state semifinals.
