Sources: Arizona NCAA violations stem from plane ticket purchase

Posted: Updated:

Multiple sources tell News 4 Tucson the University of Arizona suspended assistant coach Mark Phelps and Keanu Pinder because Phelps bought a plane ticket for Pinder to fly home to Australia, something that is considered an NCAA violation.

The University of Arizona released a statement earlier today, confirming a News 4 Tucson report that the University suspended Phelps and Pinder. Phelps is suspended for five days without pay, while Pinder was suspended for Friday night's Wildcat season opener against Northern Arizona, which Arizona won 101-67.

Pinder is set to re-join Arizona Sunday, when the Wildcats play UMBC. Phelps is set to return to work on Wednesday, November 15
