UA baseball coach discusses '18 signing class including Tucson High, Sahuarita stars

Coach Jay Johnson talked about his "Signing Day" Class for 2018. It's heavy on pitchers, and includes an Arizona flair (including two players from the Tucson area).  Coach Johnson says there'll be more players added to the list in the coming days/weeks.  Here's the sportscast that includes Jay Johnson talking about his 2018 Signing Class:

- Coach Jay Johnson and the Wildcats have officially signed five prospects from the state of Arizona.
They include:

George Arias Jr.
RHP Tucson HS, Tucson, Ariz.
Named one of Tucson's Super Six High School Baseball Players
In 2 Varsity years has a 1.69 ERA in 99 innings with 9 Wins and 122 strikeouts opponent batting average of .179
2016-17 ALL-USA Baseball Arizona Honorable Mention 
Participated in 2017 MLB/USA Baseball Prospect Development Pipeline in Phoenix

Johnson on Arias Jr.: "George is a winner, plain and simple. He has that special competitiveness on the mound and it blends it with a high level of pitchability with a 4-pitch mix. He pounds the zone with quality strikes and has the makings of a key member of our staff for a long time."

Johnson on Gorman: "Nolan is arguably the best hitter in the country for the class of 2018. His hitting ability and power is a combination you rarely see in high school players. He has also become a very good infielder. He has a special talent that will have the opportunity to impact our program in a special way."

Johnson on Liberatore: "Matt is one of the top pitchers in the country, he has the total package in terms of velocity, movement, location, and pitch ability. He blends top shelf character with elite talent, he's one of those guys that just excels at everything he does. We couldn't be happier to have Matt as a Wildcat."

He is a great competitor and first class person, we have high hopes for Ian, and believe that his time at Arizona will greatly impact our program as a great pitcher and great teammate. He is the kind of guy that you want to build your program and pitching staff around."

Johnson Thurman: "Connor is a big time competitor with a plus slider that is true out pitch and one that will be very effective for him. Conner has also really developed his body and athleticism over the past 6-months and I believe he will peak right when he gets here to Arizona. He will be a great late game option for us with his ability to throw strikes and his competitiveness."
