Trending toward near record heat

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - When it comes to weather, what happens south of the border directly impacts temperatures over the next week.

High pressure remains anchored over Western Mexico the next 7 days, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Daytime highs this afternoon peak in the mid 80s, running 7-9° above average. Mostly sunny skies are on tap today, but clouds increase by tomorrow morning.

Despite partly cloudy skies Friday and Saturday, highs reach the mid 80s.

Near record heat is in the forecast early next week, specifically on Monday. Tucson's forecast high of 87° would be one degree shy of tying the record set in 1999.

Overnight lows the next several nights bottom out in the mid to upper 50s, which is also well above average for this time of year.
