Power restored at TIA as flights resume

Posted: Updated:

A power outage on the main commercial runway at the Tucson International Airport Friday night delayed a handful of flights. According to airport officials, power went out on the airfield shortly after 7:30 p.m. A number of arrival flights are still delayed and some were diverted to Phoenix.

Contractors and airport electricians worked to restore power by 9:30 p.m. Passengers waiting to board a departing flight for Las Vegas were stuck in the terminal for more than two hours.

At 9:45 p.m. the airport tweeted: "Thank you to all of our passengers for your patience. We know this was a major problem, but we’re happy to have 11L/29R fully operational."
