Team USA gears up for 2018 Winter Olympics

Posted: Updated:

The countdown to the 2018 Winter Olympic Games is officially underway in both South Korea and the United States.

On Monday, Team USA showed off its outfits and some of the sports that will be on display in Pyeonchang.

Skier, Lindsay Vonn, will be back in the competition this year after sitting out in Sochi because of an injury.

Vonn said the love for her sport is what's getting her back on course.

“It’s hands down why I’ve always come back from injuries," Vonn said. "But, at the end of the day I also want to win.”

All of the athletes are vying for their chance to snag a gold medal on behalf of the United States, including snowboarder Kelly Clark.

Clark said being part of Team USA is incomparable to anything else she’s experienced.

“Being any Olympian makes you more patriotic than you every thought you could be. And there’s more honor and pride than you ever imagined as well,” Said Clark.

As the athletes gear up to compete on the world stage, the Olympic torch is making its way through South Korea ahead of the opening ceremony.
