Threatening weather history today

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - An 84 year weather record may fall today.

Metro Tucson is slated to reach the upper 90s this afternoon, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. The forecast high of 97° would break the old record of 94° set back in 1933.

Tucson's average high for this time of year is in the low 80s.

Running temperatures toward record levels is an abnormally strong area of high pressure over the California coast. This high will lose some of its strength as the week progresses. Daytime highs decrease to the upper 80s to low 90s starting tomorrow.

Watch Jeff for a complete look at your 4WARN extended forecast today at noon. Follow Jeff's weather updates on FacebookTwitter and his blog.
