Marana Police identify man killed in officer-involved shooting

Posted: Updated:

MARANA, Ariz. - A domestic violence suspect has died after Marana Police officers shot him on Oct. 12.

Brandon Wade Rucker, 43, was shot after a confrontation with one of the responding officers, according to Marana Police Sgt. Chriswell Scott.

It happened just after 10 p.m.  at the Springs Apartments in Continental Ranch, near Cortaro and Silverbell Roads, on the northwest side.

The department said officers responded to reports of a domestic violence dispute, involving Rucker who had a gun. Rucker then got into a confrontation with officers and that's when one of them opened fire, killing the suspect.

Marana Police Officers and Northwest Fire Crews gave medical care to Rucker. However, he died at the scene.

The department said none of the officers involved were injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
