A break from the 90s

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - The 80s are back in the fold. But for how long?

A cold front clips far Eastern Arizona today, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. In its wake, temperatures run fairly close to early October standards. Metro Tucson peaks in the upper 80s this afternoon, while nighttime lows bottom out in the low 60s.

Climatology says Tucson's average high for October 9th is 87°, while the average low checks in around 60°.

The 90s return for daytime highs starting tomorrow, courtesy of a strong dome of high pressure east of the state. By the latter portion of the work week, Tucson tops out in the mid 90s for highs. Expect low 90s by the upcoming weekend.

Watch Jeff for a complete look at your 4WARN extended forecast today at noon. Follow Jeff's weather updates on FacebookTwitter and his blog.
