'Pictures of Hope' showcases children living in Salvation Army

Posted: Updated:

Award-winning Tucsonan photojournalist and author Linda Solomon returns for her seventh year to launch her nationally acclaimed program “Pictures of Hope.”

“Through photography, children share their innermost feelings,” she said. “Their hopes and dreams captured in quiet moments tell a story that few adults can imagine. We show the children how much their hopes and dreams matter!"

Volunteers, including Mayor Jonathan Rothschild and KVOA team members, will help children express their hopes and dreams through photography.

"As Mayor, my thanks go out to Linda for continuing her support for this program in Tucson. Each year, we reach more children in a personal way that changes their life direction. The program works and our community appreciates it," said Mayor Rothschild.

On Nov. 9, the Children at The Salvation Army will have their dreams showcased for the first time at the Tucson Art Gallery, the Sunshine Shop, 2934 E. Broadway Blvd.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Linda Solomon and 'Pictures of Hope'. At our shelter, we witness firsthand the struggle of what many children go through each and every day in order to survive. Linda Solomon and 'Pictures of Hope' will have a positive impact on our children at the shelter. Through their program, it will allow each child to create goals for themselves in order to achieve their hopes and dreams," said Dawn Rocheleau, Salvation Army Tucson Area Coordinator.
