The Oro Valley Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a bank robbery suspect.

OVPD responded to Washington Federal Bank, 8001 N. Oracle Rd., on Monday, October 2, for an armed bank robbery, according to an OVPD media release.

Initial reports are that the suspect told the teller, “This is a robbery,” and said that he had a gun, the release stated. He lifted his shirt and displayed a black, semi-automatic handgun, which was tucked in his pants.

The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money and he left the bank, according to the release. He headed south from the bank on foot.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his 40’s with an average build, the release stated. Surveillance images show that the suspect has shoulder length, black hair, but he was likely wearing a wig.

“He may walk with an awkward gate and was holding a cane, but did not appear to use it,” the release stated.
