A Tucson woman is sharing her story after she and her boyfriend survived the massacre in Las Vegas.
Patsy Owen and her boyfriend, Steve, traveled from Tucson to Las Vegas for the Route 91 Harvest Festival.
“We were making friends,” she said. “Everybody was having a great time, no problems at all.”
But that great time quickly turned into a nightmare as the sound of gunfire filled the venue.
“[There was] a rain of bullets, so we just ran. People were tripping and falling, people were falling on top of us,” she said. “When we did make a run for it, a second spray of bullets came and we were just praying.”
The couple was able to escape uninjured. Sadly, those around them were not so fortunate.
“We found out that a lot of people that were right behind us did get shot,” she said. “Another young girl was hit, and she just crawled right next to us. She didn't survive.”
As our nation mourns the victims, Patsy says she’s still processing the devastating scene she witnessed. But she’s determined not to live in fear.
“I continue to pray for all the other people. You just have to be grateful that you survived something so horrific,” she said. “Just live for today, because tomorrow's not promised for anyone.”
