Traffic shifts on Grant Road near Stone

Posted: Updated:

Changes start Wednesday for construction on Grant Road from Stone Avenue to Hampton Street,  east of First Avenue.

Tucson Department of Transportation crews have completed the first layer of new asphalt, portions of curb and sidewalk, and underground utilities and infrastructure work on the south side of Grant Road.

Traffic was shifted to the south side of the road or the eastbound lanes. Crews will now begin work on the north side of Grant.

Eastbound and westbound Grant from Stone to  Hampton will be down to one lane in both directions. If you’re traveling eastbound, that restriction begins east of Oracle.

According to TDOT, left turns will only be permited from Grant to Santa Rita, Park, Euclid, Sixth and Stone.

The speed limit will be down to 25 miles per hour. Temporary bus pullouts will be in place to help with traffic flow. Drivers should expect delays.

Melanie Hunter recommends drivers take Speedway or Glenn as eastbound and westbound alternates.
