Prayer vigil held for Tucsonan on life support after Vegas shooting

Posted: Updated:

Victoria Mendoza has known Savannah Sanchez since elementary school.

So when she found out that Sanchez was shot while attending a country music in Las Vegas, she says she had to do something.

'She's so sweet. She's probably one of the sweetest people I've ever met," said Mendoza.

Mendoza and another of Sanchez's friends organized a vigil on Tuesday night at Mission Manor Park.

More than 50 people attended the hour long vigil.

Vanessa Canedo went to Desert View High School with Sanchez.

"We were so close in high school. We are lunch together for three years straight. So it compelled me to let her know that even though you haven't lived in Tucson in a couple of years, we are still thinking about you. You are still a Tucson native and we love you," said Canedo.
