UPDATE: 'Power of Prayer' helping Tucson victim in Las Vegas shooting improve

UPDATE: According to Sarina Mendez, Savannah's sister, doctors say Savannah is showing signs of "getting better" and is expected to be taken off life support within the next few days.

Mendez says a feeding tube has also been inserted in Savannah which is also a sign of improving health.

The family believes the "power of prayer" is being answered.

UPDATE: A prayer vigil will be held Tuesday night in Tucson for Savannah Nichole Sanchez who is on life support fighting for dear life in a Las Vegas hospital.  

The vigil will be held at Mission Manor Park, 6100 S. 12th Avenue, starting at 6 p.m.

The family invites the community to gather in prayer for all of the victims in Sunday night's mass shooting.  


TUCSON (KVOA) -- A Tucson native who is fighting for her life has been identified as one of the victim's in the Las Vegas mass shooting Sunday night.

Savannah Nicole Sanchez remains in critical condition on life support and has had two surgeries, according to her sister's Facebook post. 

Sarina Mendez, Savannah's sister, also posted that her mom and two younger sisters are in Las Vegas to support her older sister as she fights to stay alive.   

Savannah grew up in Tucson and attended Desert View High School. She moved to Ventura, California, to attend college.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help raise money for Savannah's medical expenses. So far, the campaign has raised $1,262. The listed goal is $2,000.

The family is planning a candlelight vigil in Tucson bring all family members and friends together.
