UPDATE: TRAFFIC ALERT: Greasewood and Anklam Roads reopened after fatal crash

Tucson Police have released more information regarding the fatal crash that happened on the west side Thursday night.

TPD responded to the incident at approximately 11:10 p.m., according to TPD spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Bay.

Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles involved in the collision and immediately began rendering aid while calling paramedics, Bay said.

Members from the Tucson Fire Department arrived on scene and resumed treatment, Bay said. A man was pronounced dead on scene.

His identity is being withheld until next of kin has been notified, Bay added. His adult male passenger was transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries.

The adult female driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital for treatment of had minor injuries.

Officers at the scene told KVOA News 4 Tucson that alcohol and speed were likely factors in the crash.

UPDATE: Greasewood and Anklam Roads on the west side have reopened after a 2-vehicle fatal crash early Friday morning.

Police shut down the intersection for at least five hours to investigate the crash.

The scene is now cleared.

No other details are known at this time.

TUCSON (KVOA) -- Tucson Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed one person early Friday morning on the west side.

According to Tucson Police, the fatal crash happened at around 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of Greasewood and Anklam Roads near Pima Community College - West Campus.

Police say the intersection will remain closed for several more hours.

One of the vehicles ended up wrapped around a pole.

The crash left low-hanging power lines across the intersection but did not cause a power outage, according to TEP's website.

The identity of the person killed in the crash has not been identified.

According to police, speed and alcohol appear to be factors.

No other details are available at this time.
