4 Your Health: Moms susceptible to postpartum depression; stem cells help with heart disease.

Tucson- There's early evidence that stem cells from umbilical cords, could help treat a deadly heart condition.

Researchers in Chile, injected cells from full-term human placentas, into 30 patients with heart failure. Compared to a placebo the treatment significantly improved the heart's ability to pump blood.

Patients also reported better physical function and overall quality of life. And unlike other transplants there were no major side effects or complications.

Postpartum depression

A new study has revealed postpartum depression affects many new moms, even those with no history of mental health problems.

Danish researchers found more than one in 200 women, with no prior psychiatric episodes, suffered depression after childbirth. One year later, more than a quarter were still in treatment.
