Work week warming trend looms

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Mild to start the work week, but warmer heading toward the new weekend.

A lingering storm system near Las Vegas keeps temps in check this afternoon. Highs peak in the mid to upper 80s across Metro Tucson today, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Nighttime lows remain cool for late September standards, bottoming out in the mid 50s by daybreak Tuesday.

As the storm system slowly advances east, it pulls in enough moisture for scattered storms Wednesday and Thursday. Activity looks to be confined to Cochise, Graham and Greenlee Counties.

Behind the storm system, temperatures start to warm up. Highs peak in the low to mid 90s Thursday through the weekend. Overnight lows will come up too, dropping to the mid to upper 60s.
