Wanted: Mt. Lemmon snow observer

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Calling all weather geeks. The National Weather Service needs your help.

NWS Tucson is looking for a volunteer weather observer on Mount Lemmon to take official snowfall measurements this Winter. The observer must reside on Mount Lemmon through the season to ensure consistent data. Areas where data is needed includes Summerhaven and Ski Valley.

Snowfall measurements are expected to be taken daily, then reported back to the National Weather Service office on the University of Arizona campus.

Depending on public response, NWS Tucson may need two observers to get an accurate representation of the variation in snowfall on Mount Lemmon.
