Falling toward the 80s

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Fall's first storm system is on the way.

Highs to start the work week reach the mid to upper 90s, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. While mostly sunny skies are expected for much of Southern Arizona today, there is a slight chance of a stray storm in Southeastern Cochise County. This includes Douglas, Bisbee and the Chiricahua Mountains.

A slow-moving storm system advances toward the state from the Pacific Northwest in the coming days. Gusty winds develop tomorrow, lingering through Friday. As the trough parks west of Tucson, there is a slight shower chance on Thursday. Drier conditions prevail Friday into the weekend.

Along with the breezes comes a significant cool-down. Temperatures by the upcoming weekend reach the mid 80s, which is roughly 10° below average for late September standards.
