UPDATE: Westbound I-10 reopens west of Phoenix

UPDATE: Westbound Interstate 10 has reopened about 60 miles west of Phoenix following an officer-involved shooting Wednesday morning.

The westbound lanes were closed from milepost 81 to 57 for several hours.

According to Arizona Department of Transportation, the right lane remains closed at milepost 67.8.


Westbound Interstate 10 is closed about 60 miles west of central Phoenix due to an officer-involved shooting.

According to Arizona Department of Transportation, there is no estimated time to reopen the highway from milepost 81 to 57. 

ADOT recommends drivers delay travel or take an alternate route during the closure. Drivers can take Salome Highway to westbound U.S. 60 to Vicksburg Road and reconnect with I-10.

Eastbound I-10 remains open.
