Border Patrol agents stop human smuggling attempts

Posted: Updated:

Border Patrol agents arrested eight people connected to two separate human smuggling attempts, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The first incident happened at a checkpoint point on Highway 86 near Three Points, on Saturday.

Agents referred the driver, a U.S. citizen, of 2006 Nissan Maxima to secondary inspection, according to a news release.

That’s where agents said a canine alerted them to two Guatemalan men hidden in the vehicle’s trunk.

The second incident happened at a checkpoint on Highway 90 near Huachuca City, on Sunday.

Two U.S. citizens were arrested after agents found three Mexican nationals in the trunk of a Ford Taurus, according to CBP.

The Americans were arrested and their vehicles were seized. The undocumented immigrants are being processed for immigration violations.
