Monsoon 2017 on its last leg

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Signs of a waning monsoon are becoming evident in the days ahead.

There is enough moisture to support a slight chance of storms through Sunday evening, after that a drying trend takes over for southern Arizona. In fact, an upper level low is forecast to dig into the southwest by the middle of next week shunting monsoon moisture well south of the border.

Systems from the Pacific moving through the region are often a sign that we are transitioning out of a typical monsoon pattern and into a more fall-like set up. You may actually feel the difference late next week as temperatures go from around 102 degrees on Tuesday down to a dry 95 degrees by next Friday.
