Friday Football Fever: Wrapup Week 3

Posted: Updated:

Welcome to week 3, where rivalries are abound in Southern Arizona and some of the best teams in our area are proving they're the best in the state.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Ironwood Ridge 24, Canyon Del Oro 21

The Oro Valley Super Bowl was a back and forth affair as CDO jumped on Ironwood Ridge early but the Nighthawks roared back...err...squawked? back to take down their rival behind QB Heath Beemiller and WR Andrew Cook.

Salpointe 27, Tucson 0

The Salpointe defense against stood strong against the Tucson Badgers and Bijan Robinson ran for more than 200 yards and JUMPED OVER A GUY.

Pueblo 66, Cholla 46

It was a high scoring affair at Lou Farber Field where the Warriors out-gunner Jordan Porter and the Chargers. Omar Ibanez and Ruben Rivera stood out for Pueblo, and both have a shot at player of the week.

Empire 54, Amphi 0

Not much went right for Amphi, as Empire looked unstoppable in a big shutout win at Friedli Field.

Mountain View 29, Sunnyside 6

Mountain View is recovering nicely from the team's loss to Salpointe to open the season as Kai Golden and the defense stacked up Sunnyside down south.

Cienega 43, Nogales 0

We always talk about Jamarye Joiner (He was amazing again), but the Cienega defense has been incredible since its win over Marana. The Bobcats are barely giving up yards, much less points.

Catalina Foothills 52, Flowing Wells 8

299. That's how many wins Jeff Scurran has after a blowout at Foothills Stadium, where reigning Jack in the Box Player of the Week Chris Kowalcek again proved his mettle.

Marana 35, Sahuaro 7

Trenton Bourget and the Marana Tigers had no trouble on the road against Sahuaro as both the offense and defense clicked in a big win.
