With Tate injured, Rich Rod's son (Rhett) may be 2nd option at QB for Cats vs. Houston

Posted: Updated:

Fresh off of a 38 point victory over NAU, Coach Rich Rodriguez and his boys are now gearing up for a Houston team that's actually favored to win on Saturday.

Here's more on the U of A QB situation in Tuesday night's sportscast from News 4 Tucson:

Houston coach Major Applewhite and the Cougars will be opening their season against Arizona since their game with UTSA was *ancelled because of flooding in texas.

Junior Brandon Dawkins is expected to make his second start of the season at quarterback for the Cats.
However, sophomore Khalil Tate, listed as #2 on the depth chart, may not be the second option.
Tate was injured on Saturday night, and was wearing a "green jersey" as he left the practice field on Tuesday morning.
The green jersey means Khalil Tate had limited participation in practice.
So, that means Rhett Rodriguez, the former Catalina Foothills High School standout who played in the Arizona opener and led the Cats to a touchdown on his first play of his career will have to be even more ready!
News 4 Tucson's Paul Cicala asked Brandon Dawkins what it means to see a third option, like freshman, Rhett Rodriguez scoring his first TD, you can see what he said in this broadcast (below):
