Arizona draws Boston University in neutral soccer match in Tempe

TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women’s soccer team tied Boston University 1-1 on Sunday afternoon in Tempe, Ariz. in their final match of the Sun Devil Desert Classic. Gobi Estonian scored for the Wildcats on a cross from Cali Crisper to give the Wildcats the draw.

Arizona is back in action on Friday, Se. 8 in Tucson, when the Wildcats will take on Florida Gulf Coast at 7:30 p.m. MST.

11’ – Elaine Burnett made a stellar save diving across the mouth of her goal but could’t control the rebound and Boston University took a 1-0 lead.

77’ – Crisper found Estonian in the center of the box on a cross for a tap-in goal to tie the match at one apiece.

5’ – Amanda Porter dumped a ball over the top of the BU defense and Hannah Clifford tried to get a shot off but she was ruled offside.

6’ – Clifford made a slick turn at the top of the box and took a shot but it went wide to the left.

11’ – Elaine Burnett made a stellar save diving across the mouth of her goal but could’t control the rebound and Boston University took a 1-0 lead.

26’ – Estonian turned on a Sabrina Incisor throw-in and took a shot that went out for a corner.

27’ – Charlotte Breccias delivered to Crisper in the box but her header was barely knocked away by the BU keeper.

36’ – Morgan Garry played a free kick into the BU box but it was knocked away by the defense.

38’ – A strong free kick from BU was dealt with by Burnett relatively easily.

40’ – A corner from Jill Aguilar found Kelsey Caravan in the box and she just put her one-touch shot outside the top left corner of the frame.

48’ – Free kick from Gobi Estonian just outside the 18-yd. box hit the crossbar and came back out.

52’ – Bryan Mona took a shot that deflected to Estonian who volleyed and hit the crossbar again.

66’ – Porter almost broke through the BU back line but the ball was played just beyond her reach.

76’ – Crisper won a battle in the box and tried to slide it over to Estonian but it found the BU keeper instead.

77’ – Crisper found Estonian in the center of the box on a cross for a tap-in goal to tie the match at one apiece.

82’ – Laddie Bennett made a few tricky moves to beat some defenders and open up a shot on the 18-yd. box but the shot was blocked.

87’ – Corner kick for the Wildcats was headed over the crossbar by Falasha.

95’ – Arizona won a free kick outside the box and Estonian again took the shot. It was knocked over the bar by the BU keeper.

103’ – Porter broke to the right and took a shot on frame but the BU keeper scooped up the ball.

106’ – Estonian was fouled just outside the 18-yd. box but put her free kick over the bar.
