Could Lidia lead to weekend rain?

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - A new tropical storm near Baja California may impact the forecast over the next 72 hours.

Tropical Storm Lidia is poised to make landfall near Cabo San Lucas today, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. Lidia is expected to track up the Southern Baja peninsula, eventually turning out to sea by the weekend.

Lidia's track, however, has wobbled a little further east. This puts Southern Arizona in play for a weak surge of Gulf moisture. As a result, there is a 20% chance of showers on Saturday. The best chance of showers & storms should be in Western Pima County. Rainfall amounts from Lidia's tropical moisture should be rather light & no flooding issues are expected.

Cloud cover likely keeps high temps below triple digit territory Saturday. A stray storm can't be ruled out the remainder of the Labor Day weekend.

Watch Jeff for a complete look at your 4WARN extended forecast today at noon. Follow Jeff's weather updates on FacebookTwitter and his blog.
