Tucson Living: Golf course safety

Posted: Updated:

The great thing about Tucson is that we have such a variety of different golf courses.

There are desert style golf courses like Vistoso… and also parkland style golf courses that sit down in the valley and are more traditional style.

At Vistoso, there’s a variety of different wildlife. You can see bobcats, deer, Javelina. Of course there are things you don't want to see too like rattlesnakes, Gila monsters...stuff like that.

In a more traditional setting at some of the other courses you're going to see lots of coyotes, ground squirrels, birds, jack rabbits. We have a lot of different wildlife you can see when you're out here.

People always think that the weekends are the busiest times. Actually, during the week, in-season is a little bit busier than the weekend. The shoulder seasons, meaning November and December and then the end of April until the end of May, are when the weather is really nice and the rates are a little bit less expensive so people can get a better value.

Natives of course know that you need to drink lots of water before you get to the golf course but of course the usual things like wear a ball cap, sunscreen is very important not only just before you play, but apply it when you're out there during the round.

Stay in the shade as much as you can during the summertime. In the winter we love the weather, it is beautiful but you’ve still got to do those things.
