Friday Football Fever: Wrapup Week 1

Week 1 means every team in Southern Arizona is in action this week, including some of the top teams that have a shot at State Championship.

Salpointe 34, Mountain View 0

Bijan Robinson again showed off why he's one of the top recruits in Arizona, but it was the Salpointe defense that continues to impress. The Lancers are 2-0 with two big wins this season.


Sabino 42, Sahuaro 13

The Sabercats pick up a win against East-side rival Sahuaro behind quarterback Alex Bell and running back Isaiah Smotherman.


Tucson 24, Mountain Ridge 14

Both teams started slow, but the Badgers managed to move to 2-0 with a strong win over Mountain Ridge.


Cienega 57, Marana 50

The first quarter ended 3-0. Then football happened. Trenton Bourget and Jamarye Joiner fought back and forth, but Joiner and the Bobcats won this high scoring affair with a 30-point 4th quarter.


Bisbee 22, Douglas 21

In the battle of the Copper Pick, the Bisbee Pumas managed to take down Douglas to get the rivalry win.


Buena 14,  Flowing Wells 7

The losing streak is over. The Buena Colts snap a 22-game skid and earn coach Joe Thomas' first win for the Colts.


Pueblo 7, Sunnyside 6

Brandon Sanders and the Warriors take down Roy Lopez's Blue Devils in a defensive struggle.


Cholla 50, Amphi 0

Led by reigning Jack in the Box Player of the Week Jordan Porter at quarterback, the Chargers move to 2-0 with an impressive win over a 2016 playoff team in Amphi.
