How Harvey impacts the Arizona Monsoon

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - Could Hurricane Harvey play a role in Monsoon storm development?

Isolated storms are possible between 12-6 PM today, according to 4WARN Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. For the 52nd time this year, Tucson reaches triple digit territory for highs. Scattered storms are possible Saturday, especially along the International Border. Rain chances sit at 30% in Tucson to start the weekend.

High pressure early next week parks over Nevada, due to Hurricane Harvey stalling out over the Texas gulf coast. As a result, moisture stays well east of Arizona. Storm chances look meager for Metro Tucson, ranging from 20% Monday to 10% the middle of next week.
