Overnight storms dump heavy rain on Tucson

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON - The monsoon leaves behind an active night of weather across the Tucson metro with heavy rain and flash flooding.

Late night and early morning storms brought 1 to over 2 inches of rain for some parts of metro Tucson by early Sunday. Flash Flood Warnings have been allowed expire as of 6am Sunday morning, however, with the heavy rain, flowing washes and wet roadways are likely to continue to start the day.

Shower and thunderstorm activity will continue to diminish early Sunday morning and delay the onset of more storms later this afternoon and evening. Storms will likely not be as widespread as we saw last night but isolated storms will once again be possible later today with flash flooding and strong winds the main concern.

After Monday dry air begins to filter back into southern Arizona once again shutting down the monsoon storm chances with little hope for rain all the way into next weekend.
