Medical examiner says California man drowned in Lake Havasu

Posted: Updated:

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) - Mohave County's medical examiner has ruled that a California man died by drowning in Lake Havasu last week.

However, the medical examiner's report is inconclusive about any medical conditions contributing to the death of 54-year-old Gregory James White of Arcadia.

White was declared dead last Thursday evening after he jumped into the water from his boat without a life jacket.

County sheriff's officials say White was with his girlfriend and another female friend when they decided to turn off the boat and go for a swim.

The women returned to the boat safely, but authorities say the wind kicked up and distanced White from the boat as he struggled to stay afloat.

The women got White back on the boat and started CPR before guiding the boat to the shoreline.
